The return to work for many in Wales has seen a change in drinking habits, as demand for sugar free syrups (used in speciality teas, frappes and hot drinks) has started to increase.
Sales Director Joanna Parry believes this is down to widely reported weight gain as a result of lockdown habits, saying:
“Just before lockdown, coming out of Winter into Spring, people wanted sweet treats and our most popular syrup sales were for rich, indulgent chocolate flavours, all served with luxury chocolate toppings, like the Easter Eggstrvaganza Frappe“.
“Now we’re seeing a rise in demand for sugar free syrups as people returning to work want to satisfy their sweet cravings, but are keen to lose the extra pounds gained while on furlough. The old classic flavours, vanilla, hazelnut and caramel are always popular, both as additions for coffee and hot chocolate, as well as making great ingredients for other speciality drinks like frappes.
“Our range of sugar-free iced tea syrups, with flavours like peach and raspberry and our fruit purees, perfect for smoothies are also selling well as people are looking for healthier options.”
